Freelance market intelligence, not a job board
TruffleGig sniffs out what the freelance market is really doing: posted rates, how crowded jobs are, and where demand is moving — so you can find work or hire with numbers, not guesses.
Freelancing runs on guesswork. It shouldn't.
Most freelancers price by gut and pitch into a wall of competition they can't see. Most clients budget the same way. The information exists — it is scattered across thousands of public job posts — but nobody has time to read them all. TruffleGig does that reading and turns it into a clear picture: what work pays, how contested it is, and which way demand is trending.
Market data, not a job board
TruffleGig is a freelance market radar. It measures the market from public job posts and presents it three ways — for people watching the Market, people trying to Find work, and people Hiring. You can't apply to jobs here, and we are not affiliated with Upwork. It is a lens on the market, not a marketplace.
From job posts to clear signals
- Scan. We regularly pull public Upwork job posts across categories and skills.
- Measure. We compute posted hourly and fixed rates (p25/p50/p75), crowding (median applicants), and demand (volume and week-over-week change).
- Surface. We rank openings, flag rising and falling skills, and roll it into scorecards and alerts you can act on.

How we handle the numbers
- Posted asks, not earnings. Rates come from job bands, not settled invoices — we say so plainly.
- Independent. Not affiliated with Upwork; we only analyze public post data.
- Free to read. The market view is open — no paywall to see the data.
- Honest signals. We show ranges and sample context instead of a single hype number.
What's next
TruffleGig is source-agnostic by design. Upwork is the current source; other real freelance markets can be added over time. We're also building more personal tools — views and calculators tailored to how you work.
Built for our own bids first
We are freelancers. TruffleGig started as a private tool — we wanted posted rates, crowding, and demand in one place so our own pricing and pitching were less of a guess. It worked well enough that we put it here. Same numbers we use; no extra product wrapped around them.
